The following minimum configuration is valid for all devices with visionCATS:

Communication ports¶
1x RS232 for each instrument to be connected.
If more RS232 COM-ports are needed, use USB to RS232 adapter. 1
USB 2.0 or higher.
1x 1394a FireWire® (6-pin connector) or 1x 1394 FireWire® (4-pin input with external power adapter and 6-pin output).
Operating system¶
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Caution
Windows 7 Professional 32-bit is not recommended, use it only for demonstration purpose
Due to the limited amount of memory available in 32-bit version of Windows (maximum 2 GB per process), only a few analysis can be opened, and a big report may be truncated.
Caution
Windows Server is not supported
Graphic Card¶
Compatible with DirectX11
Note
As complexes algorithms are computed on the graphic card, a middle range model will increase speed over an entry level card.
Monitor¶
True color 32 bit
Minimum resolution 1280 x 1024 pixels
A Windows Aero theme must be selected
Recommended resolution 1920 x 1080 pixels or higher
Color quality¶
Supported with a calibrated monitor (and printer if printing)
Hard disk for Server PC¶
Disk space depending on the usage:
Occasional user - visionCATS needs about 500 GByte
Frequent user - visionCATS needs about 1 TByte
Mouse¶
Minimum: Mouse or touchpad with 2 buttons
Recommended: Mouse with a scroll wheel and 3 buttons
System printer (optional)¶
Any laser or inkjet printer supported by the Operating System
Additional software installed¶
Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 R2 (Express) databases and NET Framework 4.5 are installed by visionCATS installer

For additional COM-ports a USB to 4-port RS232 adapter – CAMAG part number 958.0608 is recommended. The driver for this adapter can be found on the visionCATS Disk. Other adapters are not supported by CAMAG.
